Position – Half Time

Position Profile

• We are a small, but enthusiastic congregation moving ahead on a new & challenging path. Over the next few years we will be moving out of our church home as it is being rebuilt for a much needed community hospice. Once built, we will return to worship within the hospice chapel.

• We require a minister to guide us on this new path by way of inspiring Sunday services, providing excellent organizational & communication skills and exhibiting the ability to accept new challenges & opportunities.

Worship

• We seek a minister who has new approaches to the Gospel that helps us meet the challenges of the 21st century both within our congregation, our community & the wider world. Services should be inspiring, motivational, educational & engaging.

Pastoral Care

• The Minister will visit & provide compassionate, spiritual support to those in need, especially those who have health issues, are experiencing life challenges, lack the physical ability to attend church services or are experiencing end of life issues.

• The Minister should be aware of available social services within the broader community for those in need and be able to assist in making connections as necessary.

Community Outreach

• The Minister will be supportive of community outreach, including programs held at the church as well as in the wider community.

• The Minister will participate within Horseshoe Falls Regional Council, and liaise with other churches & community organizations to determine community needs and opportunities.

Leadership

• The Minister must provide strong leadership & support as the congregation moves through this unique transition phase. Excellent leadership and communication skills will be required to keep the congregation informed & connected as worship services move to a temporary location.

Administration

• The Minister will prepare the order of service, in collaboration with the organist, Worship and Music committee and office personnel.

• The Minister will develop & share his/her schedule with the office staff & the chair of Ministry & Personnel.

• The Minister will keep the congregation updated through weekly on-line messages as well as through the monthly church newsletter.

• Understanding the constraints of a part time minister, pulpit supply can be arranged as needed.
